Due to continued expansion VWS Ltd are seeking to add more engineers to our installation/service team. You will be expected to have a proven track record in CCTV, Security Entry, Door Entry Systems, Intruder Systems, Fire, Networking and Automatic Doors would also be preferable. You must have an excellent attention to detail and will be familiar with the NCP 104, NCP 109, BS4737/PD662, BS 5839, BS 7036 and BS 7671 Standards.

Only CV’s from engineers with previous experience on the disciplines above will be accepted. All Applicants must have a full driving license, should be willing to travel and work overtime/nightshift when required.

It is essential that the chosen candidate will hold a valid CSCS/ECS card. It would also be desirable if the candidate held a PASMA and IPAF card although this is not critical.

All Applicants Must Be

  • Capable of working to a high standard and to agreed time frames.
  • Competent with electrical wiring and should have an understanding of electronic circuits.
  • Willing to work at heights.
  • Good with working with their hands, tools and power tools.
  • Capable of installing containment (plastic and galvanised) to a high standard.
  • Risk assessments and method statements for smaller scale jobs.
  • A good communicator to both customers, other members of staff and VWS management.
  • Computer Literate and have a good grasp of PC components.
  • Familiar with computer networks and preferably wireless networks.
  • Capable of accurately documenting job progress via a Personal Data Assistant (PDA) provided by VWS.
  • A good organiser and planner and should be capable of working on their own or as part of a team.
  • Presentable, fit and tidy.

It is essential that the applicant is proficient with both analogue and IP CCTV systems. We currently maintain HD IP CCTV systems to a camera count to over 200, the candidate will be capable of fault finding and repairing defects to a system of this scale.

It would be preferable if the applicant had experience in working with GDX concierge systems and stand-alone systems. We currently maintain a wide spectrum of door entry systems and Security Entry systems so experience with Bell, BPT, Elvox, Raytel and Entrotec would also be preferable.

We are currently diversifying the business and are expanding our Fire portfolio. We would like the applicant to be part of this expansion and it would therefore be advantageous if they were familiar with both addressable and conventional Fire systems.

Basic working hours are from 8am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.

What we need:

The new team member must have the ability to embrace and show an enthusiasm for IP/IT technology with a track record in designing, presenting and selling solutions and maintenance contracts to professional specifiers, contractors and Security managers. The applicant should have a record of creating and selling new business with an ability to network and a focus on ongoing account management. We would also welcome applications from individuals who are at present outwith the security systems marketplace but can demonstrate the aforementioned attributes with an enthusiasm to join a forward thinking company embracing the latest technology. Full training on our product ranges will be given.

Package:

An attractive OTE package is offered to the successful applicant, with a very attractive and lucrative commission package supplementing a base salary. A company car option will also be available.

Due to continued expansion VWS Ltd are seeking to add an Estimator to assist our ever-growing team. You will be expected to have a proven track record in Estimating systems comprising of (but not limited) to CCTV, Access Control, Door Entry Systems, Intruder Alarms, Fire, Networking and Automatic Doors.  You must have an excellent attention to detail and will be familiar with the NCP 104, NCP 109, BS4737/PD662, BS 5839, BS 7036 and BS 7671 Standards. You will have as a minimum FIA Unit 1 Fire Detection Design accreditation and preferably units 2&3: advanced detection design and advanced alarm design.

  • Create Drawings to NSI Gold Standards and FIA Standards
  • Understand the company call management system.
  • Communicate with VWS staff, customers and public via email and telephone
  • Follow and Understand all processes flowcharts laid out in the
  • Understand all Disciplines carried out by the company
  • Be competent at estimating all types of systems and compiling information to admin and managerial staff
  • Estimate different systems from a supplied CAD Drawing, Specification or equivalent
  • Create specifications and estimates from supplied build up sheets or equivalent
  • Understand regulations pertaining to all disciplines undertaken by the company
  • Attend Management meetings when required
  • Create program of works from estimate or specification
  • Assist is compiling tender submissions
  • Understand the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 2005
  • Understand Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
  • Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors gaining competitive pricing
  • Negotiate with Mechanical and Electrical contractors to establish satisfactory pricing for both VWS and M&E contractor
  • Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with new and existing customers
  • Identifying extra work opportunities and sales lead generation of work (upselling)
  • Following up sales quotes and leads accordingly and effectively managing any queries

Basic working hours are from 8am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.

Due to successfully winning a contract with Hillcrest Housing Association VWS Ltd are seeking to add a qualified Fire engineer based in Edinburgh (or surrounding areas) to our service team. You will be expected to have a proven track record and be fully certified (FIA or equivalent) in servicing and maintaining Fire Detection Systems and Fire Fighting Equipment. It would also be beneficial if the applicant had experience in servicing and maintaining Door Entry Systems, Intruder Systems, Fire, CCTV, Networking and Automatic Doors. You must have an excellent attention to detail and will be familiar with the NCP 104, NCP 109, BS4737/PD662, BS 5839, BS 7036 and BS 7671 Standards.

Only CV’s from engineers with previous Fire experience on will be accepted. All Applicants must have a full driving license, should be willing to travel and work overtime/nightshift when required.

We are currently servicing and maintaining approximately 400 sites for Hillcrest Housing association and the applicant will be expected to commute, maintain and service the Fire detection equipment on these sites.

Basic working hours are from 8am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.
