Wheatley Group – CCTV & Door Entry Upgrade
The Challenge
Wheatley Group required a major upgrade of ageing CCTV and analogue door entry systems across 24 multi-storey and low-rise blocks. Existing cameras, networks, and control rooms suffered from restricted visibility, unreliable performance, and limited coverage in areas affected by anti-social behaviour.The estates also operated three separate audio-only door entry systems serving more than 1,400 properties, with limited functionality and inconsistent access control. Legacy copper and multimode fibre infrastructure could not support a modern, integrated IP-based solution, necessitating a complete redesign.
About the Project
VWS undertook the complete transformation of CCTV, network and door entry systems across Wyndford, Broomhill and Gorget. The project included full tenant engagement for more than 1,400 homes, major infrastructure replacement works, and the creation of new purpose-built control room environments.Key elements included:• Tenant engagement, demonstrations and surveys across 1,400+ properties.
• Design and installation of a new single-mode fibre backbone and wireless mesh network.
• Deployment of 500+ megapixel IP cameras and upgraded video management hardware.
• Construction of new dedicated control rooms with video wall monitoring.
• Installation of IP video apartment stations and Secured by Design entrance panels.
• Project delivered within agreed timescales and budget.
The Solution

• Deployment of over 500 IP cameras with advanced analytics and RAID-protected storage.
• Installation of 1,400+ IP apartment stations with mobile call-forwarding capability.
• Centralised concierge communication and fob administration.
• Real-time diagnostics, remote monitoring and enhanced service resilience.
• A scalable platform capable of supporting future security improvements within the Wheatley Group.
